ABOUT-US

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our mission as coaches for the Illinois Cheerleading Academy All-Star Cheerleading Teams is to offer the best technical coaching and innovative choreography possible.  We teach kids how to be exceptional cheearleaders, but most importantly, we teach the kids how to be exceptional people.

Focusing on teamwork, commitment and loyalty, kids learn how to encourage one another while building their own self-confidence. We do not require tryouts. We believe everyone has a place on one of our teams. We believe that everyone has strong points that can be used on our teams and that it is our job as coaches to find those strengths and build a team.

HISTORY:

In May of 2008, Champaign-Urbana was introduced to the World of All-Star Cheerleading. Illinois Cheerleading Academy was created to give our own children the opportunity to compete in All-Star Cheerleading.  ICA started out in a small 1,500 square-foot facility with about 9 members. By the end of the 2008 Season, our numbers had grown to 26 members.  Our Youth Team had an outstanding Season and qualified to go to the Final Destination in Virginia Beach, VA.  Our Teams performed in many competitions and participated in some local performances, including the Sweet Corn Festival in Urbana and at the Marketplace Mall in Champaign.

By July of 2008 our student size outgrew our facility! Illinois Cheerleading Academy partnered with
I-Power School of Gymnastics and on November 15, 2008 opened a brand new 8,000 square-foot facility on Staley Road just north of our original facility. This collaberation gives us the ability to provide our students with many pieces of equipment for training. An in-ground foam pit, tumble track, trampoline and full cheer spring floor give our members vital equipment needed to improve their skills.

By the end of our 2009 Competition Season, our gym size nearly doubled with 41 students.  This allowed us to compete with 4 teams:  Mini, Youth, Junior and Senior.
